Chiaroscuro 2014 Sculpted Head

Back in 1997 I was introduced to the Italian Renaissance art. It opened my eyes to many artist of the time but by far-most I fell in love with the work of Caravaggio. I had the opportunity to study abroad. I saw firsthand why it was that he painted with such contrasting lighting.
I was there, in the room that he placed his subjects. Dark gray with minimal lighting. I could only imagine the candle lit room as he brushed against his cloth. Drastic, mysterious even sad, were the feelings that came to me...

Today I take pictures of all my work. I enjoy the contrast of light that falls upon my sculpted faces. It's nice to have memories of those times back in Italy. Enjoy 0:)
