The Little Pine Tree

Mama, why do some people put trees up for Christmas and others don't? -Good question, I said. I'm going to tell you a story that was planted in my heart many years ago...

It goes like this-
A long, long time ago there was a couple with two children, who lived up on the part of the Earth that was very, very cold during this time of the year. It was a difficult time to keep their morals high, for the cold didn't even let them think clearly.
The community they lived in fell into a deep depression during this time of season. It was just too, too cold and they really didn't feel like doing anything. Sometimes, families would go as far as to just fall asleep and never wake up.
-Scary, I know.-
This worried the couple, for they loved their children dearly and never wanted any harm to come upon them.
Papa thought and thought, how could I prevent this depression from happening to us. One feels the frustration of not knowing how to keep warm and active.
Papa knew deep down inside that we are loved by something that cant be seen. But why if this is so, do we suffer at time like these, papa thought.
It was at that moment that Papa looked out the window and saw how beautiful the little pine tree stood out in the snow. It was the only green thing that remained faithful and strong against this chilling cold weather. Papa thought, It stands there like a little solder of life prepared to deal with whatever came its way.
He saw how the little tree pointed up to the sky, the same way our hands come together to pray. The little tree inspired Papa. The little tree gave Papa hope.
He knew at that moment that his family was going to make it through this difficult time of year. His faith grew stronger every moment that the little tree stood its ground.
Children! Papa said, come to the window, I want to show you something. Do you see that little pine tree out there? He said. The children looked out the window as Papa explained... Just like that little tree we too must stand strong with happiness and joyful thoughts for ourselves and our community during this cold season. We will keep our minds busy and hearts filled with joy. Papa continued explaining...
Tonight we will bake goodies for our neighbors and deliver them tomorrow. After that, we will gather ribbon of all colors to put on the little tree so that every time we look out this window we will see how beautiful and strong the little pine tree is.-What Papa did was have faith, the faith that is within us all.
It became tradition every year to color the little tree with ribbons and lights along with other little things. Every year Mama and Papa baked up a storm to share a little something with their family and friends.
With Love anything is possible. Never again in this land did anyone ever fall into a long deep sleep of no return. Thanks to Papas Love, faith and ability to want to change a harsh situation, into something beautiful.
So, that is why we today use the tree as a symbol of our trust and never ending love for God and our people. - The Little Pine Tree.  With time, Stories tend to get lost and even change. Nonetheless, the main points are there. Free Will is ours to choose to take life and see it for what we want. With this, We do hope that when we choose those things they will help us all for the better of man kind. ; )
