"Dia De Los Muertos" Altar installation, Pan De Muerto and Sugar Skulls 2009

My first year (2009) working with Rene Mireles and his class (Aliso Elementary Carpinteria, Ca.) on presenting a community Dia De Los Muertos Altar. It was a pleasure to see how families came together on the presentation of this altar. With my artistic passion, patience and love Rene and I work days and nights to get this done.
Sugarskulls, Papel picado, paper flowers and ever Pan de Muerto was done by the children with the assistance of my daughter, Mireles and myself. I wont lie, it was lots and lots of work but At the end we said we would do it again in a heart bear.
Thank you dear Mr. Rene Mireles for saying we could do this, he wasn't wrong...

Maya Mask

Going deep into thought, I sculpted this mask for the placement on the backdrop of  Dia De los Muertos Altar. I know that this day is a day of Honoring those loved ones that have passed in a happy, not sad way...Nonetheless, I cant help feeling the pain for all those who have fought for justice and unity, so that we may walk this earth with a stronger structure of  Knowing that life could be much more than just war...
War - “to bring into confusion

A Doctor is He who heals the body mind and soul...so that we may avoid the obvious...

"Doctor My Eyes"
 By Jackson Browne-

Doctor, my eyes have seen the years
And the slow parade of fears without crying
Now I want to understand
I have done all that I could
To see the evil and the good without hiding
You must help me if you can
Doctor, my eyes
Tell me what is wrong
Was I unwise to leave them open for so long
'Cause I have wandered through this world
And as each moment has unfurled
I've been waiting to awaken from these dreams
People go just where there will
I never noticed them until I got this feeling
That it's later than it seems
Doctor, my eyes
Tell me what you see
I hear their cries
Just say if it's too late for me
Doctor, my eyes
Cannot see the sky
Is this the prize for having learned how not to cry

"This couple fits in the palm of my hand...
Remembrance of partnership -One of the greatest challenges that exist for human kind is the ability to maintain a couples longevity. It, to me, requires unselfish Love accompanied with patience, tolerance and the Want to restore and repair anything that has been broken - With this, a value of appreciation will grow- A weave will form, making a much stronger bond in the relationship..."

" I have awaken from a long deep sleep..., I've  realize that there is much more within us all which makes us who we are...To abstract and pull away from what our eyes see will gives us the ability to focus on something grander than the physical structure. It lets us see what truly matters in life... We are each unique precocious being of life..."
